Grace, understated elegance, and clean simplicity: adjectives that Rick Legnon, president of Advanced Pool Designs, often

 hears when clients describe the water features fashioned by his company. Far from the norm, Legnon’s designs are considered by many to be unique, prompting inquiries from all parts of the globe, including Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Named Master of Design by a national trade magazine, many of Legnon’s poolscapes have been honored with awards. “Our quality is recognizable,” says Legnon. “In fact, one recent client scoured the web for months, searching for the perfect design. He picked his favorite 10 out of the thousands that he saw. He then realized that five of the 10 were pools designed by us.”

Legnon’s creative process is relatively simple and reasonable, and he offers his design service wherever a client happens to be. A site inspection is scheduled to determine feasibility and compatibility. He then takes into consideration the personality of the property, the architecture of the estate, the topography, and the client’s likes and dislikes. Once the concept is determined, the design comes to life with carefully chosen amenities. By using photorealistic three-dimensional computer imaging, Legnon provides a glimpse into how the completed project will appear, allowing homeowners the chance to really “feel” the finished product. “Too often people simply settle for a design that is not right for them because they feel that they have no other options,” says Legnon. “Why not bring in a designer that they already feel a connection with? Then they have a much better chance of getting exactly what they want.”

Once the design is in hand, Legnon will often help a client choose the best local tradesman, ensuring that the plan is transformed into reality. Legnon explains, “The sophisticated client is beginning to realize that separating the design portion of the project from the construction portion makes sense. Not only is the value increased due to better designs, but, in many cases the actual overall costs are reduced.”
